A memoir that gives us an insiders look at a life of privilege, status, turmoil, and ultimately self realization. Across several continents the author's growth from the closet to international advocate is inspiring. The only flaw? A lack of photographs of the people so well described. I use to be an avid reader and it’s definitely the type of book, due to the dynamic writing style, that you can read in one day. It took me two days, but that’s only because I had prior obligations to tend to. It was funny, sad, encouraging, and every other word and emotion in between. - 4.0 out of 5 stars from Shane Dane -- Oh Omar : A dense tome with levels of detail that could make Monica Lewinsky blush, a grandson emerges from the shadows of grandfather as he calls the legend of Lawrence of Arabia who shares stories in his dotage of Streisand and O'Toole, in that order i imagine. Oppression abounds in Egypt, in Montreal, in the UAE but still by dint of charm, OSJ succeeds as a proud trophy boy, a sincere soul in a false life.
